ECONOMIC TRENDS
The American workplace scene is changing. Currently, the largest U.S. employer is Wal-Mart, followed by McDonald's as the second largest employer. Job security is no longer viable. The government budget deficit is the highest ever, surpassing $500 billion. The deficit, coupled with unemployment trends, are driving negative economic forces. According to government estimates, the social security system will run out of money in the very near future. Furthermore, there is a grave shortfall in company-sponsored retirement funds so that there will not be enough money to pay everyone.
